William Livingston Harlan, pioneer of osteopathy in Colorado

Born and raised in Kirksville, initially active in the entrepreneurial sector, William Livingston Harlan enrolled at the ASO and in 1896 he earned his diploma, he spread osteopathy in the state of Colorado.
Son of a merchant from Kirksville, Dr Harlan Graduated at the business school and worked as sales representative and entrepreneur, owner of a mine before returning to his home town and enrolling at the ASO. He graduated in 1896 and received the first-hand teachings of AT Still.
For six months he worked as an osteopath in a practice he had opened in Saint Louis, then he decided to move to Denver, Colorado.
He founded and assumed the office of president of the Rocky Mountain Infirmary of Osteopathy, an institution that did not carry out any scholastic activity but was dedicated to the care of the people.1
He launched the publication of a monthly and weekly magazine called “The Rocky Mountain Osteopath“.
In 1898 he published a volume on the new science of osteopathy, Osteopathy, the new science, collecting reflections on osteopathy and legislative problems, as well as theoretical inputs already published elsewhere.
