Visceral Osteopathy

Visceral osteopathy is concerned with assessing and restoring the internal organs’ health.

Thanks to scientific research, it is now clear that the mobility and motility of the bowels are central to their functionality; not only for their mechanical function but for the biological one itself: mechanobiology shows in fact how the cellular biochemical functioning – the production of enzymes, hormones or other substances, as well as cell growth and death – is strongly influenced by the mechanical stimuli received by the cells. As a result, a poorly mobile organ will show impaired function, with cascading repercussions on other organs and, therefore, on the health of the whole body.

In this regard, visceral osteopathy can positively affect all the axes of organic communication discovered by scientific, research and including the gut-brain axis, the microbiota-brain axis, the heart-brain axis and the liver-brain axis. These routes of communication are increasingly studied as they play a significant role in defining health and disease within the body, even in the case of “neurodegenerative” diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis, which show an early and important alteration of the viscera.

Visceral osteopathy therefore has great potential to promote an overall maintenance and restoration of health.
